Dr. Andrea Russo earned her Doctorate of Optometry degree after completing an accelerated program at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry at Salus University in Philadelphia, PA.
During her clinical rotations, Dr. Russo gained experience providing eye care in both private practice and hospital settings. She also participated in specialized vision care such as traumatic brain injury evaluations, low vision exams, specialty contact lens fittings, and dry eye disease management. She also provided eye care to hundreds of underserved individuals on an optometric mission trip in Honduras.
Upon graduating, Dr. Russo chose to further her clinical skills by completing a residency in ocular disease and primary care at the San Diego VA Healthcare system. At the Veteran's hospital, she became proficient in diagnosing and managing complex cases involving both the anterior and posterior segment of the eye.
When practicing, Dr. Russo strives for the best patient education and most enjoys providing family eye care. She is a member of the American, Pennsylvania and California Optometric Associations as well as the San Diego Optometric Society. Originally from Pennsylvania, Dr. Russo enjoys both snow and water sports, but is happy to be in San Diego soaking up the sunshine.
